Class Action FAQs

Q What is a class action?

A. A class action is a civil lawsuit filed on behalf of a group or “class” of people who have all suffered injury or financial loss under similar circumstances. Some examples are a group of people may have suffered side effects from an unsafe drug, or a group who may have all purchased the same defective merchandise.

Q. How can I start a class action lawsuit?

A. First you'll need to find other people experiencing the same situation as you, the more the better for your case. From that point you'll need a class action lawyer on your side who will know what steps need to be taken for your case to proceed as a class action suit.

Q. How do the lawyers get paid in a class action lawsuit?

A. Typically in a class action lawsuit, your attorney's fees come out of the money won from the suit, called the “common fund.”
